Dr.Ghulam Zarquani

Allama Dr. Ghulam Zarquani was born and raised in Jamshedpur, India in 1968. He has completed contemporary Islamic Studies course known as Dars-e-Nizami from Darul Oloom Faizur Rasool in Uttar Pradesh, India. To seek proficiency in the Modern Arabic language and literature, he joined the Faculty of Islamic Call in Libya and completed his bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, following a basic master course (Derasa tul Ulya) in Quranic Studies. He moved back to India, joined J.M.I University in Delhi and successfully got a master’s degree and subsequent Ph.D. His research thesis was titled “Ghulam Ali Azad Bilgrami and his contribution to the Arabic Language and Literature.”

Before immigrating to the US, he was appointed Lecturer of Modern Arabic Language at J.M.I University. He also designed the curriculum and lesson plans for the newly established J.H.N.Awlia in Delhi, India.

Dr. Zarquani immigrated to Houston in 1998 and established the Hijaz Foundation of America, Inc., an umbrella organization which supervises Jama Mecca Masjid, Hijaz Academy, Madrasa Hijazia and the Islamic Mission. Since then, he has been serving as the chairman of the organization. During this period, he also taught the Modern Arabic Language at Lone Star College in Cy Fair, TX.

Dr. Zarquani has compiled eight books of his father, His Excellence Allama Arshadul Quadri, and has authored more than 40 books on several topics. This includes his extraordinarily valuable book Faizanul Quran, which is the explanatory translation of the Holy Quran.

As a hobby, Dr. Zarquani regularly writes a weekly column on world Muslim politics in Inquilab, a leading Urdu newspaper, which is simultaneously published in 13 cities of eastern India. He is also a member of the international thesis examiner panel for Faislabad G. C University in Pakistan. After his father’s death in 2002, he was appointed as his successor to supervise several educational institutions. Furthermore, he is the general secretary of the Royat-e-Hilal Committee of Americas since 2005. Dr. Zarquani is fluent in Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and English.
